为什么需要沪语拼音WHY A ROMANISATION AT ALL
Mandarin has pinyin — look it up, then speak. A dialect without one is ground out by ear alone. Shanghainese pinyin writes the sound system as rules you can look up: see the spelling, read it aloud; meet a new word, check it. This site follows Qian Nairong's scheme, the most widely used and best documented.
INITIALS: THE THREE-WAY VOICING SPLIT
Unlike Mandarin's two-way split, Shanghainese initials come in three series: b (unaspirated), p (aspirated), bh (voiced). Whenever you see bh, dh, gh, vh, fh, zh, sh — vibrate the vocal cords. That "voiced buzz" is the base colour of Wu speech.
FINALS: THE -q STOP FINAL IS THE MARKER
Any spelling ending in q — aq, eq, iq, oq, ioq — is a checked-tone syllable: short, throat-closed (see Lesson 1). Also watch three special finals: eu (as in 头、走), yu (雨、圆), and o (the main vowel of 多、马). Find the q first, then these three — 90% of "unreadable" spellings solved.
沪语韵母比普通话简洁(没有 eng/ing 的严格对立,没有卷舌),但多了一样东西:入声韵尾 -q。凡是以 q 结尾的注音——aq、eq、iq、oq、ioq——都是入声字,发音要短促收喉(详见本专栏第壹课《入声》)。另外几个高频特殊韵母:eu(「头、走」的韵,像 o+o 的连读)、yu(「雨、圆」)、o(「多、马」在沪语里的主元音)。看到注音先找 q,再找这几个特殊韵,90% 的「看不懂」就解决了。
声调:五个调,但不必硬背数字TONES: FIVE, BUT DON'T MEMORISE NUMBERS
Five citation tones: yin-level, yin-rising, yang-rising, yin-checked, yang-checked. Voiceless initials pair only with yin tones, voiced only with yang — so learning initial voicing halves the tone space. Better still: Shanghainese rewrites tones in connected speech (sandhi), so learn "word melodies" as wholes instead of single-character values.
上海话单字调有五个:阴平(高平)、阴去(高升)、阳去(低升)、阴入(高短促)、阳入(低短促)。清声母字只配阴调,浊声母字只配阳调——所以记声母清浊,声调就自动缩小了一半范围。更重要的是:上海话是「连读变调」语言,单字调进了词组会按规律改写,首字定调、后面跟读。初学阶段与其背五个调值,不如直接跟读双音节词,把「词调」当整体记——这正是本站语音层设计的思路。
20 分钟学习路径A 20-MINUTE STUDY PATH
0–5 min: read the h-marked voiced initials, feel the buzz. 5–10 min: recognise -q, read ten checked characters (一六七八十吃白脚学药). 10–15 min: the three special finals eu, yu, o. 15–20 min: take any entry on this site, read the romanisation before the characters, then play the audio to check.

PRACTICE: head to Layer One — the tone coaster drills the five tones, the tremor drill trains bh/dh/gh, and Checked-Tone Burst trains -q endings, all against real recordings.
结语EPILOGUE
Pinyin is not the goal; it is the lever. Thirty-odd initials, fifty-odd finals, five tones — one A4 sheet that moves the entire sound system of Shanghainese. Spend 20 minutes fitting the lever; every later lesson gets lighter.
拼音不是目的,是杠杆。沪语拼音总共三十几个声母、五十几个韵母、五个调,一张 A4 纸就印得下——但它能撬动的是整部上海话的声音系统。花 20 分钟装上这根杠杆,后面每一课都会省力。
